Our research project “Sound Tracks of Lost Films: Printed Film Music until 1918” will be represented at the annual conference of the Gesellschaft für Musikforschung (German Musicological Society), held from 29 September to 2 October. Goethe University Frankfurt am Main hosts the conference in partnership with the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts and the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics. Oliver Huck, Levent Altuntas, and Fabian Müller will present preliminary findings from their research in three papers: “Dramaturgien der Filmmusik in den USA 1909 –1918” [Dramaturgies of Film Music in the USA, 1909–1918], “Struktureinheit und musikalische Form in frühen US-amerikanischen Stummfilmmusiken” [Structural Unit and Musical Form in Early American Silent Film Scores], and “US-amerikanische Stummfilmpartituren 1910–1914. Zur Geschichte früher Filmmusik” [American Silent Film Scores, 1910–1914: On the History of Early Film Music].
